6th Grade Social Studies

Covers the major ancient civilizations of the world.These include the first empires which sprout up in Mesopotamia, moving to Egypt, India, China, Greece, Rome, Byzantium, Medieval Europe, up through the Renaissance.The class focuses on the political, cultural, religious and economic practices of each civilization.  

7th/8th Grade Social Studies

Covers the history of America starting with the first colonists who stepped on our shores and moving all the way through to the turbulent decade of the 1960s.The class is a two year class which is split into early American History (1600s-1865) and later American History (1865-1974).Included in the class is a study of the Constitution which takes place during the early American History portion of the class.    

6th Grade Science

Emphasizes earth science.Students start off the year by identifying different pieces of equipment, learning how the equipment is used and safety procedures.After this initial introduction takes place students move into the study of Earth’s surface, interior and climate before moving into the study of space.    

7th/8th Grade Science

Broken down into two sections, each taking one year.One year deals with chemistry and physics and deals with such things as chemical interactions, forces, electricity and the electromagnetic spectrum.The alternating year studies biology and looks at the different kingdoms of organisms starting with the smallest piece of bacteria and moving through to protists, fungi, plants and animals.We also look at heredity and how the different parts of the body work.
